Hurricane Summary POSTED: September 19, 2014 5:05 p.m. Polo Drifting Slowly Westward off West Coast of Mexico Tropical Storm Polo is moving very slowly westward off the West Coast of mainland Mexico. While the brunt of the wind and rain associated with Polo will remain offshore, outer rain bands from the system will impact the immediate coast of the Mexican state of Jalisco in the short term. In addition, a few wind gusts to around 40 mph will be possible right at the coast. Over the weekend, the threat for heavy downpours will shift to extreme southern portions of Baja California Sur as outer rain bands clip the area. Elsewhere, the remnants of Odile will continue to bring the threat for flooding rainfall across southeastern New Mexico and western Texas through Saturday. While no other tropical development is expected in the immediate future, there are indications that a system may attempt to develop off the coast of Central America later this weekend or early next week.
